Wholistic Acupuncture Fertility Enhancement protocols are a comprehensive program of acupuncture, herbal, nutritional and
lifestyle coaching. We are happy to work as an alternative to, or in conjunction with, traditional western infertility medicine.
Fertility & Chinese Medicine Fertility enhancement begins with a smooth, regular menstrual
cycle and active, healthy sperm. Wholistic Acupuncture can treat menstrual problems such as PMS, excessively heavy periods,
pain with menstruation or ovulation, absence of periods, or irregular cycles. Additionally, acupuncture and herbs can help
with male fertility enhancement. Wholistic Acupuncture can also affect other fertility factors such as habitual
miscarriage, elevated FSH, low progesterone, ovulation disorders, uterus and cervical disorders, endometriosis, immunological
factors, polycystic ovaries, advanced maternal age. Fundamentals of treatment: In Chinese medicine,
fertility is affected by several factors. Below are a few key terms you may hear while working with your acupuncturist.
Ren, Du, Dai and Chong meridians - These are the extraordinary channels that govern fertility, blood and the
abdominal areas. These are balanced through acupuncture, herbs, and qigong/meditation. Blood deficiency, Blood
stagnation - Blood is a vital fluid in Chinese medicine. Since women lose it monthly, replenishment is often a key to fertility.
Blood is affected through acupuncture, herbs, and diet. Spleen deficiency - The Spleen and its channel in Chinese
medicine governs our digestion. Good digestion is necessary to building blood and nourishing the body throughout pregnancy.
The Spleen is tonified by acupuncture, herbs, diet, meditation and lifestyle practices. Liver Qi - The Liver
and its channel controls our menstrual cycle. Liver is adversely affected by stress and diet. Symptoms of stagnated Liver
Qi may be PMS, breast tenderness, anger, depression, irregular cycles, etc. Liver Qi is soothed through acupuncture, herbs,
and qigong/meditation. Kidney Qi, Kidney Yin, Kidney Yang, Kidney Jing - The Kidney and its channel govern
our constitutional and genetic vitality. If someone has burned the candle at both ends they have used up some of their Kidney
Qi. Replenishing Kidney Qi is done with acupuncture, herbs, meditation and lifestyle. Dampness and Phlegm
- Dampness manifests when digestion or the diet is poor. Dampness can inhibit health in the Spleen, Liver or Kidney channels
resulting in difficult inception. Dampness is resolved through acupuncture, herbs and diet. When to
come in: Each woman will vary slightly in treatment strategy, according to her Chinese diagnosis. Minimally,
we would like to see each woman three times a month, just before ovulation and 3-4 days into menstruation and a third treatment
one week past ovulation. Weekly treatments may be or optimal for some women and men. Herbs Herbal
supplementation maintains the treatment strategy in between acupuncture treatments. Herbs often supply the necessary factor
to successful pregnancy. All herbs are completely safe in case of pregnancy. Our formulas are purchased from the leading
manufacturers in Chinese medicine. The herbs are tested for accuracy and toxicity in the US and comply with Australian Good
Manufacturing Practices. We at Wholistic Acupuncture are experienced herbalists and herb buyers. There are some herb/drug
interactions to avoid (for example, coumadin and other blood thinners), so please make sure that we know all drugs you are
taking. But in general, the herbs we use carry few risks and amazing benefits.
